If it is still a “.nb” file, but appears as text, there are two possibilities to try. If there is a “.txt” added at the end, simply deleting “.txt” should work. On some computers, with some browsers, the Mathematica notebooks show up as a text file. For example, these include topics such as polar functions, parametrics, and sequences and series. There are a few notebooks that are included in both groups since I often use them in both courses. There are two groups of notebooks: Pre-Calculus and Calculus. Many of the notebooks explain a few of these basics for the user. Of course, to enter functions, it is important to understand the basics of Mathematica syntax, including capital letters and square brackets. Enter a function, execute a command, choose a window, or use sliders. Most expect very little knowledge of Mathematica.
Most notebooks were formatted using version 11, but they should work just fine with many earlier versions. They do require that the Mathematica software be installed on the computer. Students may use them for exploration and visualization. Teachers may use them for demonstrations in classes.
